On March 05, JICA organized an international online workshop about SHEP Approach to provide an opportunity to share experiences of market-oriented agriculture with the participating countries of Africa, South Asia, Middle East and Latin America.Ambassador H. E. Mr. Norio Maruyama from Embassy of Japan in South Africa, Minister of South Africa Mr. A.T. Didiza from Johannesburg and Vice President of JICA Mr. Tadashi Sato from Tokyo joined the workshop. Representatives of JICA Bangladesh Office, Department of Agricultural Extension, Bangladesh Bank, A. R. Malik Seeds Pvt. Ltd. participated the workshop from Bangladesh.JICA has been supporting market-oriented agriculture projects for small-scale farmers in Kenya from 2006 to date through SHEP approach. The objective of the initiative is to help farmers to become aware on marketing attitude and take action to increase their income from their horticultural crop production. SHEP Approach is being implemented in more than 20 countries of Africa, South Asia, Middle East and Latin America with adaptations to meet their specific conditions for improving the income of farmers.
