Job Context:

We are looking for a young, dynamic and energetic Area Manager for the above-mentioned areas who have at least 5 years of proven experience in Sales & Marketing in the Hybrid Seed Sector for a meaningful contribution to our company to reach the organization`s goal. Exposure to the seed industry will be an added advantage.

Key Assignments/ Duties:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and control the respective territory-based sales staff in order to meet sales targets and achieve sales progress.
  • Assist the territory sales officer (TSO) in meeting sales targets while increasing productivity by providing coaching, counseling, advising, supporting, training, motivating, or information as needed.
  • Ensure to achieve the primary and secondary sales targets through distribution, coverage, visibility, and merchandising.
  • Ensure achievement of respective territory wise sales operational objectives by contributing territory sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining territory wise sales system improvements; and implementing change as and when required in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Meets territory wise sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Establish territory wise sales objectives by creating a sales plan and quotas for districts in support of national objectives.
  • Maintaining and expanding customer bases by counseling the TSO of the respective area, building and maintaining rapport with key customers and dealers, and identifying new customer and market opportunities.
  • Achieve forecasted sales by following (and, if necessary, adjusting) a written plan of action. Constantly strive toward continuing professional growth.
  • Set performance norms for the TSO. Monitor each TSO’s daily performance and compare it with that month’s objective.
  • Visit frequently used POS and dealer/distribution points and solve trade queries and problems. Ensure an optimum level of stocks at all times and effectively control the distributor’s performance;
  • Prepare a daily, weekly, or monthly report and submit it to the concerned authority on a regular basis;
  • Prepare MIS to measure the market status, keeping up to date with products and competitors. analyze sales and distribution data and take corrective actions;
  • Attend various meetings as needed, as well as hold meetings with team members;
  • Visit the field, find problems, and provide solutions in consultation with the relevant person/department;
  • Make every effort to maximize both present and long-term sales and gross profits;
  • Provide administrative and logistics support to the team and submit reports as and when necessary.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Agriculture/Master in Agriculture (Preferred) /MBA in Marketing from any reputed university.
  • At least 5 years of working experience (which includes a minimum of 2 years in a managerial position).
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):

Additional Requirements:

  • In-depth Knowledge and familiarity with seeds & Agro base sales system and environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge about establishing retail distribution networks & retail business operations.
  • Sound knowledge of POS management.
  • Conversant on all the relevant products available at the marketplace by the company as well as their pricing.
  • Hands-on expertise in effective product placement and display
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) and ability to correspond online.
  • Analytical and reporting skills.
  • Extrovert, strong persuading and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Coordination and organizing capacity.
  • Supportive etiquette for professional presentation and collaborative behaviour for higher productivity and workplace effectiveness.
  • Adaptability to work with the least possible time and excellent stress tolerance.
  • Ability to lead a team productively through coaching & guiding.
